hey there, I'm holly

My name is Holly and my passion for dog training has been shaped by my love of travel and the time I’ve dedicated to working with rescue centres around the world. Seeing dogs from all backgrounds has reinforced my belief that every dog has potential when given the right guidance, patience, and understanding.

All About Me

'I'm happiest when I'm outside, travelling somewhere new or surrounded by animals.

I've worked hard from a young age to be able to travel and experience as much of the world as I can. I've travelled to different countries, visited rescue shelters around the world and spent time learning from dogs in completely different environments, all whilst raising money for the shelters who need it.

I love the outdoors, whether that's hiking, camping, exploring somewhere new or just getting out with Nina. And when I'm not doing any of that, you'll probably find me playing the piano or guitar.

I'm definitely not someone who has their entire life figured out, but I'm passionate about building a life around the things I love: dogs, travel, adventure, helping people and constantly learning.

Why I Started

After years of working with rescue dogs around the world, I saw first-hand how much the right training, structure and communication could change a dog’s life.

I wanted to create a space where owners could actually understand why their dog behaves the way they do and show them a life they’ve always dreamed of together.

I don't want to just ‘stop reactivity’ or ‘teach loose-lead walking’.

I want to help people understand how to create a better life for their dogs - starting with reliable off-lead freedom. That's why I started Grounded Canine Co.

Why I Differ from other trainers

I don't just want to fix the problem you've come to me with. If your dog is reactive, I don't want to simply make them stop reacting.

If your dog pulls on the lead, I don't just want to make them walk nicely for an hour.

I want to look at the bigger picture.

How can we make your dog's life better? How can we make your life easier? How can we give you both more freedom, more confidence and more opportunities to actually enjoy life together?

For me, it's always about the welfare of the dog as well as the owner. I want your dog to have a fulfilling life where they can explore, run, sniff, play, learn and experience the world.

I want you to be able to enjoy those things with them without constantly worrying about what they're going to do.

Yes, we’ll work on the behaviour that's causing you problems, but we're also going to look at why it's happening, what your dog needs and what we can do to give them a better life overall because I don't want you to finish training thinking, “Great, my dog doesn't do that anymore.”I want you to look at your dog and think, “I can't believe how much more we get to do together now.”

That's the difference for me.

I'm not here  to “fix” dogs.

I'm here to change lives.

My Goal

My goal is simple: I want to help dogs and their owners live better lives together. I want to give dogs the skills, confidence and reliability they need to have more freedom, whether that’s running off lead, exploring new places, enjoying adventures or simply being able to experience more of the world.

At the same time, I want owners to feel confident, capable and excited about life with their dog rather than constantly worrying about what might go wrong. For me, good training isn't just about fixing behaviour. It's about creating a happier, more fulfilling life for both ends of the lead.

my own Romanian rescue

I have many reasons as to why I decided dog training is what I am 'meant to do' however, Nina was the reason I took the final leap. Nina is a true goofball at heart. She loves her food, training and running around like a loon. When she truly trusts you, it's an honour to know her. When she first arrived with me at 18 months old, she was nervous, reactive and had never experienced a home before. She had lived a life on the street and in a public shelter until she was finally rescued. No socialisation, no exposure. The bond we have now has been a beautiful journey and my goal is to help you achieve that with your very own dog. Whether your dog is a nervous rescue that has never lived in a home or simply a new addition to the family and you want some guidance - I'm here to help you every step of the way.
